We are a modest, family-run fleet of privately owned Tesla vehicles that operate as Robotaxis on the official Tesla Robotaxi network. Think of us as your local Airbnb host in the Tesla ecosystem. We also accommodate longer duration use-cases via Turo, and can provide conventional taxi services via Uber/Lyft.
Currently 4 vehicles (3 Model Ys and 1 Cybertruck), with plans to add 3 Cybercabs when Tesla makes those available.
No, all rides are requested and managed exclusively through the official Tesla Robotaxi app, available to download in the Apple iOS app store. Just look for vehicles with the “TheCarsAreRobots” fleet name or badge.
Only within the active Tesla Robotaxi geofenced areas, and only for trips that start or end within the St. Croix County WI and surrounding area.
In the Robotaxi app, after entering your destination, swipe through the available vehicles and select one that shows “TheCarsAreRobots” as the fleet owner. You can favorite our fleet for priority matching when we’re nearby.
No, there is not. All rides are 100% unsupervised (by you) and autonomous, exactly like every other vehicle on the Tesla Robotaxi network. So no need to worry about how much to tip!
Our vehicles are kept immaculately clean, maintained daily, always have phone chargers (USB type C), complementary bottled water, and free Wi-Fi. We can also work with you to design curated rides, where other refreshments, snacks, or treats will be waiting for you in the car. We also offer promotions and discounts for new and loyalty customers. In winter months we equip our cars with winter 3PMSF rated tires.

Yes, absolutely. Pets ride free and are welcome. Just select “Traveling with pet” in the Tesla Robotaxi app so we can send a pet-ready vehicle where possible.
Yes, ages 13+ may ride alone per Tesla network rules. Under 13 must have someone 18+. An adult must manage the Robotaxi account and be available via contact information.
Pricing is set dynamically by Tesla, not by us. We have no control over fares. You’ll typically pay $0.70–$1.30 per mile depending on demand, time of day, and city – generally 30 to 60% cheaper than Uber/Lyft.
Open the Tesla app → “Account” → “Trips” → select the ride → “Lost Item.” Because we personally manage the fleet, we respond within minutes and can have the car autonomously return your item or meet you at a convenient spot.
Whatever is linked to your Tesla account in the Robotaxi app (credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.). We never see or handle payment details directly.

All Tesla Robotaxis (including ours) record 360° video at all times. Liability is covered by Tesla’s $5M+ insurance policy per vehicle. Passengers are never at fault or financially responsible.
100% electric, and charged overnight at our homebase using rooftop solar + Tesla Powerwalls. If it's cloudy, we use a small nuclear reactor in the backyard. Carbon impact is effectively zero on most trips, if that's important for you to know.
Our focus is the St. Croix River Valley, and we will grow as demand increases over time in that area. We will not grow faster than our ability to meet quality standards and consistently in rider experience.
Simply ride with us whenever we pop up in the app! The more rides we complete with high ratings, the more vehicles Tesla allows us to add to the network with priority routing. Also feel free to leave a 5-star rating and mention “TheCarsAreRobots” in the comments, as it helps the algorithm differentiate our fleet and send us more rides.
Quite safe, actually. Tesla has clocked over 5 billion self-driving miles, and that data has shown their FSD driven cars will experience ~5-7x fewer incidents compared to a human driver. Accidents can be unavoidable at times - other drivers are on the road after all - but know that every Tesla vehicle has a 5 star NHTSA crash test rating, with the Model Y recording the highest score ever in testing. And the Tesla Cybertruck outperforms the venerable F-150 Lightning in safety tests as well for comparison.
You can find any of our fleet vehicles on Turo, which will allow you to rent a car for up to 5 days. Weekend rentals are popular for Cybertruck, to make hardware store runs for that quick project or to bring a boat to the cabin.
If wanting to experience autonomy, but in a more familiar setting, you can schedule for us to pick you up via Uber/Lyft. We will drive you to your destination while giving you a taste of what autonomous rides can be like, and answer any questions you may have along the way. Expect us to demo autonomous parking and lane selection, navigating street signs and stop lights, merging with traffic, and other common driving scenarios.
